The Character Marisa In Deported By Shannon Freeman

In “Deported” by Shannon Freeman , the main character Marisa is faced with a lot of things throughout this novel. High school drama has a way of solidifying or destroying friendships. High school can be a way leading people in the wrong path. In high school it is time to grow up and thing about you future. In the novel the theme is based on the characters dealing with all their not so good experiences during high school. Marisa is one of the main characters in the novel. Marisa is graceful and articulate, but often too driven. She is trying to cope with her father being deported and with other things going on in her life, I feel as if she is going to have a melt down. She is focused on one goal throughout the book and it is to graduate. Her father is being deported because of court issues and her brother cannot stay out of trouble with gangs and some how she is involved with it all which puts more stress on her. With the help of her mother and siblings it’s no way she can maintain a A average and still take care of home where there is slack. Her interactions through the novel supports the theme
