You may wonder how people live with power, loyalty, revenge, and fear. Almost every character that was killed in Long Way Down sought revenge and got it, then they faced the consequences of being killed. The story states “There's a code of conduct, and what those rules are is number one, no crying, number two, no snitching, number three, always seek revenge.”, cited on page 31.
Throughout the book, Brett reveals himself as a tough, hero willing to do anything such as defending and protecting patrols overnight. Not until later in the book, Jack (member of Brett 's squad) was injured and taken to Dr. Morgan 's clinic. He reported that Jack had been severely injured and could not do anything about him because of the mass amount of internal bleeding. At that point, Jack explained that it was Brett and his squad who set the people in the tent on fire. Herb and the committee waited for Brett to arrive and he confessed it.
Betrayal and revenge can be powerful motivators in a story. Legend by Marie Lu follows June Iparis and Daniel Wing, also known as Day, living in the Republic. The Republic forces children to take a test called a Trial when they reach a certain age, so while June scored perfectly, Day scored below average, forcing him to run away from his family to live as a criminal on the streets. When June’s brother is killed, everyone suspects Day as the culprit. The Republic sends June undercover to find and arrest Day for his crimes.

In the novel, Fools Crow, written by James Welch, the act of revenge is shown numerous times and is an underlying theme throughout. These acts of revenge reflect the Blackfeet way of life. Yellow Kidney, Owl Child, and the rest of the tribe all show signs of revenge and each express it in their own way. This is especially prevalent with Yellow Kidney and Owl Child as they seem to be constantly seeking revenge of some sort. Yellow Kidney wanted revenge on Fast Horse throughout the novel.

The House of the Scorpion is a science fiction novel written by Nanny Farmer and is meant to be for young adults. This book tells the story of Matt, a young clone owned by a powerful drug lord El Patron. Matt later finds out the truth about where he comes from and faces challenges to try to find his place in society. This book has many adult subjects like abuse and drugs in this book, yet some would criticize that it is a bit much for children to read about. though Farmer's intent for this is to make kids aware of different types of dangers.

I am reading City of Glass by Cassandra Clare and I am on page 437. This book is about Shadowhunters and Downworlders coming together to save themselves from Valentine, a corrupt Shadowhunter, and his army of demons aiming to destroy the Shadowhunter and Downworlder races in a bloody war. At the center of the conflict lies Jace and Clary. The siblings’ father is the leader of the demon army and it is their duty to stand against him and fight with their friends and family. Jace has demon blood inside him giving him special powers; along with Clary who can create runes out of thin air, but the source of her abilities are unknown.

ISU Essay In the Short story, Rita Hayworth and The Shawshank Redemption by Stephen King is about a man that Is wrongfully convicted of murder, gets sentenced to prison then has to face problems in prison. The Shawshank prison is a corrupt prison with underhanded actions from the guards and inmates. Andy Dufresne, the wrongfully convicted man, never gave up on himself and he always had hope that some of the problems that he is facing will stop. The sisters, a group of thirsty men that rape other inmates to fill their sexual needs.
Revenge is considered to be a part of human nature, which can prevent transgressors from harming others. Both Euripides and Flynn use their main characters’ professed need for justice, desire to achieve power and skills at manipulation in order to demonstrate that revenge is a selfish and destructive act driven by pride and an obsession with control that can harm innocent bystanders. The professed need for justice motivates both characters to make their husband’s not only suffer, but to acknowledge the damage they have caused. In Euripides’ play, Medea’s husband abandons his wife and children to marry a young princess from Corinth.

Drama is everywhere from little issues to bigger issues. In many pieces of literature there are the same issues as in present day cities in the United States. In the book Seedfolks by Paul Fleischman it is shown the issues portrayed in Cleveland,Ohio.
