“I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin, but by the content of their character.” A quote from Martin Luther king, he delivered a speech “I have a dream” to a substantial group of Civil Rights marchers on August 28, 1963 at the Lincoln Memorial in Washington D.C. Martin Was a leader to the African American Community and rose to eminence during the Civil Rights era along with Rosa Parks, Malcolm x, Andrew Goodman and others. The Civil Rights movement sought to bring racial equality, but did it? The Civil Rights movement was a success because of Brown vs Board of education, Affirmative Action, and the Civil Rights act of 1964. Brown vs Board of education ended legal segregation in public schools, “it is a story that is of hope and courage” Nps states. Brown vs Board was one of the best supreme court decisions. Racial segregation in public schools violated the fourteenth amendment, therefore children were not treated equally, the black and white facilities were held separate as well as poor surroundings. Affirmative policies often focused on employment and education. for those groups that have been historically excluded or underrepresented, such as women and minorities. This action outlawed the jobs that would go to whites, and directed the jobs to those of colored skin.
