By the time the civil rights movement began to progress, it was clear to African Americans that they had to fight for themselves and the justice that they so badly needed and deserved. They clearly weren’t receiving any help from anyone in a position of authority unless it somehow put them at an inconvenience.
At a grassroots level, there were many things civil rights activists went about doing in order to fight for equality.
