The Civil War. Louis P. Masur’s book, The civil War: a Concise History, Is a book that gives an overview of the civil war from 18 to 1800, Providing multiple causes an consequences that emerged from the war. The book begins by reviewing the origins of the war. Chapter one covers the issues between northern and southern states and the tension over right and slave possession. The tension created a conflict that raised a number of political, social, and military events that then proceeded into a battle to abolish slavery from the colonies.
To Kill A Civil War Soldier It all ended on May 9, 1865. Over 620,000 soldiers, combined from both sides, died during the Civil War ever since the Confederates had bombarded Union soldiers at Fort Sumter, South Carolina, on April 12, 1861. It is a common misconception that most of those soldiers died during the bloody battles in action. In fact, twice as many of Civil War soldiers died from infection and disease than the various battle wounds one could receive, from getting shot clean through from a Minié ball to being blown to smithereens by a cannon.
Drew Gilpin Faust, wrote the book This Republic of Suffering: Death and the American Civil War, this book was about the suffrage in the Civil War. Although more specifically the book goes in depth about the death of the ones who was in the war as well as the spiritual. Since this was back in the nineteenth century, they have not had the access to the medical technology that we do today. This then led to many deaths from “infections, disease in the camp, and that doctors did not have the knowledge to use clean instruments when treating a wound properly” (Faust 4). Though just from 1861 and 1865 it was estimated about 620,000 soldiers died in the Civil War, this is a time expand of approximately four years.
A very well remembered time of warfare was during the battle of Gettysburg leaving casualties of 7,058 fatalities and 33,264 wounded. The Confederacy lead by Robert E. Lee and the Union carried by George Meade even saw some of their best soldiers get injured. In the book the Killer Angels by Michael Sharra, the civil war would go on to diminish the mental and/or physical health of many men along with minimal health care, such as Dick Garnett with an injured foot, Lew Armistead who was shot and killed, and a boy suffering from a gunshot through the cheek. To begin with, on
The Civil War: the bloodiest, most deadly battle of U.S. history. Through hard occurrences, the torn-apart nation fought an enduring war, with more than 600,000 brave soldiers perishing along the way. Beginning in the 1860’s, many states began to secede from the once unified United States of America, to create a new country: the Confederate States of America. Thus, the U.S. separated, due to each sides’ different policies. The secession of the Southern states split the nation, acting as a trigger for the Civil War.
The American Civil War was one of the deadliest wars that the United States has ever been a part of. It is estimated that from 752,000 to 851,000 soldiers died during the American Civil War.(Encyclopedia Britannica, 2023). The bloodshed caused by the numerous battles during the war forged many unique leadership styles. One of the most major and complex battles that occurred during the American Civil War was the Siege of Vicksburg. The Siege of Vicksburg took place from May to July of 1863 and was a key turning point in the American Civil War.
The American Civil War was the deadliest war in the history of America. It began on April 12, 1861 at Fort Sumter, South Carolina and ended four years later in 1865. The two opposing sides who fought in the Civil War were the Union (North) and the Confederacy (South). The Confederates fought to succeed from the Union which ended in their overall defeat. The Union emerged victorious against the Confederates in American Civil War because the Union had more soldiers, resources, and far better infrastructure.
Many battles were fought during the civil war. I was a rough time in American history. Even though there were quite a few battles in the civil war, the Battle of Shiloh was the greatest. The battle of Shiloh is one of the most known battles because up until that time in the Civil War it was the bloodiest of the battles, it was also well known for how many soldiers were lost on both sides, The battle of Shiloh was unique because of the diseases the soldiers endured, the arduous terrain, weather conditions, the soldiers relied upon. Death by combat was not the only reason so many soldiers died, from the beginning to the end of the civil war disease was a big problem.
On March 5th 1770, British Soldiers shot and killed five colonists and injured 10 of them. The tragic event was nicknamed “The Bloody Massacre”, but the colonists were at fault because they were the ones that provoked the soldiers, they attacked the soldiers, and they created a chaotic scene. First reason why the colonists were at fault is because they are the ones that provoked the soldiers. (Paragraph 2 of page 155 from the book United States History Colonization through Reconstruction written by Michael B. Stoff and James West Davidson) “A crowd gathered…colonists shouted insults.”
The rising numbers of death in the South tremendously weakened their army, which allowed for a Northern succession. William C. Davis asserts, “Industrially the South couldn’t keep up in output and in manpower. By the end of the war, the South had, more or less, plenty of weaponry still, but it just didn’t have enough men to use the guns”. Having such a small army, the South was not able to sustain a decent amount of soldiers for the war. Henceforth, the Northern advantage of having more soldiers had a large impact on the Southern loss in the Civil
The Civil War was filled with many diseases and deaths. Over 620,000 men lost their lives during this war; roughly two thirds of the casualties were caused by the lack of medical knowledge of many diseases. The remaining one third of the casualties was from the actual battle itself. The war became a turning point for many women interested in the medical field. The knowledge of medicine was the beginning of a new age during the Civil War, and the lack of it led to many gruesome deaths.

The Civil War caused hundreds and thousands of men to lose their life, about 620,000 soldiers had died. The Civil War was fought in Pennsylvania, Texas, New Mexico, and Florida. Civil War began because the North wanted to abolish slavery, the South seceded from the Union, and the North overpowered the South.
I write this letter to you to discuss the catastrophe that stands throughout the United States. Upon my arrival, the Civil War was coming to an end, and the unification of the nation was just beginning. I believed this to be good, or I had wished. On April 15th, President Abraham Lincoln was assassinated by John Wilkes Booth. It became apparent that “Booth had steadfastly defended the Confederacy and white supremacy, and his act was part of a larger conspiracy to eliminate the heads of the Union government and keep the Confederate fight going” (Restoring the Union, 2014).
The Civil War The Civil War was the deadliest war in American history with over 600000 American deaths reported. This war was fought to keep the Confederate States from leaving the Union. The Union won because they had a telegraph system and had more resources. The effect of the Union victory has had a large impact on society.

The loss of life was an estimated amount of 620,000 men. It lasted four years, from April 12, 1861, through May 9, 1865. However, while slavery was a major cause of the American Civil War, there were several other major factors.
