“Loyalty is a fine quality, but in excess it fills political graveyards” (Neil Kinnock). Throughout the centuries, loyalty has been considered one of the supreme, principal morals of the human race. Loyalty of the people to their nation and leaders (patriotism) is one of the key factors to the success of any nation. The mission of any leader of a nation, including myself, is to reinforce the idea of patriotism in the people. Loyalty and patriotism are the basic principles of citizenship and nations; if the loyalty of the people is lost, any nation/organization (no matter how powerful it is) has lost everything and collapsed. Without full belief and loyalty of the people of Japan in their nation, Japan would not have been able to rise again one of the world’s most technologically advanced countries of the world. Even though U.S.A citizens are of multiple descents/origins and races they all share one common principle, patriotism, which has lead to the immense success of the U.S.A. The progress of the U.S.A as a nation would have been impossible without the loyalty of its people. Some people are only patriotic to their country just because its theirs, regardless of the actions, decisions or ideals of the country. This leads to the citizens convincing themselves and the younger generations that the countries decisions are always right. This type of extreme, ignorant patriotism will only lead to the downfall of the nation as leaders of nations, especially democracies, could only progress and function through criticisms.
