Karl Marx was born on the 5th of May in 1818 in Trier, Germany. The son of decedents from a long history of rabbis. Growing up, he was very focused in his studies. Marx got engaged to Jenny Von Westphalen. An educated lady Karl had been acquainted with since their childhood. He contributed in the group named the Young Hegelians at the University of Berlin and broke away after he gained an interest in journalism. In 1841, he obtained a doctorate degree and started his career in journalism but moved to Cologne and later moved to Paris in 1843 as his publicated works on his political views were accepted. In Paris, France, he transitioned to communism.
What exactly makes Karl Marx such an important figure? Marx was an economic philosopher and journalist in early Germany. His famous novels were “Das Kapital” and “The Communist Manifesto”. He believed that private ownership was the cause of all economic problems. Marx saw how capitalists gain profit of goods and services by paying underprivileged workers low wages. His ideal economic system is where people should be equal in society. He created theories that would eliminate the division of classes, private ownership, jealousy and exploitation in the workplace.
