Over the years distracted driving has become more and more of an issue everywhere in the world. Driving is a huge responsibility. It is crucial to be as focused as possible while behind the wheel of a car. People have to be conscious of their surroundings at all times. People at any age can get distracted while driving. These day’s people think that it is just teenagers that get distracted while driving, but a lot of adults are starting to text, eat, and get distracted behind the wheel as well. Distracted driving is one of the most leading causes of wrecks. Distracted driving causes numerous wrecks, injuries, and deaths. When people get into a wreck they are not only hurting themselves but the people they get into the wreck with. That person might have a family and friends who care about them. People get so distracted by the little things and do not realize they have dramatically impacted or possibly taken an innocent persons life. People do not think about the consequences of their actions, they only think about the short-term things. “In 2014 in the state of Oklahoma there were about 68,327 crashes.” “There were 669 deaths due to car crashes” (Oklahoma Highway). While the main concern is for people’s lives, there are also other things that are affected when people drive while distracted. Insurance is another thing to consider when driving. It cost a lot for insurance alone but when people get into wrecks it tends to raise the prices of insurance. Even if a person did not cause the wreck himself or herself, the insurance is still likely to rise. Another thing to consider is ones car. The price for fixings cars can be very expensive. Having to repair ones car because of someone that was texting or eating while they were driving. If someone does not have insurance it can really be bad for the other person.
