It is an undeniable truth that college athletes nationwide have participated in an excessive amount of criminal activities compared to non-athletes. This issue has existed for an extended time, and prevailed especially during recent years. The history and continuity of this problem encourages most to pose the question, what can the NCAA do to stop this? There are multiple perspectives taken on how to act on reducing these crime rates, but all are similar as they attempt to attain the same goal. Many critics argue that these athletes wouldn’t commit these crimes if they were paid enough to cover necessary living costs or allowed to receive other outside payments, but a great amount of others believe that they are already compensated enough with the scholarships and other miscellaneous benefits they receive.
How He Came to Be Phil Jackson was raised in a farm community in North Dakota by parents who were both Pentecostal ministers and very strict practitioners of their faith. Chicago Bulls received Robin Lopez, Jose Calderon, and Jerian Grant. In my opinion, this trade is good for both teams.
As we follow the basketball team to different cities that that they play in. They get treated with different levels of disrespect but they still play and try there hardest. We see them in Texas it not the worse, but they still aren't treated with much of respect. When the players are getting introduced no one cheer for them. The trial was on a sexual assault charge against a white woman accusing Banks of raping her. Banks was only 16 at the time and with no evidence, he was sentenced to 41 years to life for the sexual assault of a white woman. Banks was well educated and had a bright future in football, but his career was crushed for a false conviction for a sexual assault charge. Banks turned down many plea deals from 25- 9 years because he knew he was innocent. In the end, he settled with a 90-day observation in Chico State Prison.
Out of all the people that try out for the NBA/NFL, only 1% of those people actually get in. Many people are debating on the topic of whether the NBA/NFL should make college a requirement. At the moment, people are wanting to shut down the law so that the players who try out don’t have to go to college. Over 100,000 people try out for the NBA/NFL but only a little bit of people get in. That leaves a lot of people’s futures destroyed, so most people say it’s good to have a backup degree just in case.
While some believe that athletes should have their own choice at making a decision to go pro straight out of high school, they should not do so because they will not be able to manage their million dollar contracts respectively. Speaking of contracts, the NBA should eliminate guaranteed contracts for rookies drafted in the first round of the NBA draft. They should do this because a careless high school kid, could just go into the draft not knowing, or caring on how much they are going to make, with the lack of experience on handling millions of dollars. This is very unrepsonsibible for a teenager, and not only for the high school athlete, but also for the basketball association as well. This is because of there noncommitment to have these players
Drugs For Thugs “A positive drug test can destroy an athlete 's career and tarnish his or her legacy”(Porterfield,25). Fans look up to athletes as role models but since fans look up to them so much they do things to stay at the top of there games. Yes athletes want to be the best in the league but it doesn 't take drugs to become that it takes hard work so why do it. So I think there should be a harsher punishment for athletes caught using steroids and performance drugs because of health problems, it gives them an unfair advantage plus it gives the sport and athletes a bad reputation.
