Violence can trigger emotions that cannot be undone which can lead to regret. Wes’s father wanted to teach Wes that violence is not tolerated especially a lady. For the other Wes, he never had a father to guide him to make the right decisions or reprimand when he was wrong. This is one of the key factors into why the other Wes got into trouble with violence and drugs. Even though the author did experience trouble with violence and drugs, he realized violence would lead to more violence.
For example, when Edwin asked Cole what he learned from his anger dance, Cole says “‘To forgive,” Cole said. “Being angry is giving someone else control of my feelings so they own me. In Robertson Davies’ novel Fifth Business, the author utilizes the characters to illustrate that a person’s guilt may become a deadly venom to their conscience if it is carried as a burden throughout their life. This only leads to the deterioration of the characters, themselves. Paul Dempster’s guilt begins as a child when his father, Amasa Dempster, starts to blame him for his mother’s simple behaviour. Being a gullible child, Paul’s father is able to strictly reform how Paul thinks of himself. The words of Amasa’s verbal abuse continue to form Paul’s life as he immerses himself with guilt over what his mother has become.
In other words, once Perry got angry he could not control his actions, and acted impulsively by grabbing his fathers throat. According to The National Child Traumatic Stress Network’s article on the Impact of Complex Trauma “ A child who feels powerless or who grew up fearing an abusive authority figure may react defensively and aggressively in response to perceived blame or attack…” (). Once Perry’s father snatched the biscuit out of his hand he responded aggressively because he felt attacked by his fathers action, thus causing him to act irrationally and impulsively by choking his father. On pages 43 and 44 Willie-Jay says to Perry, “ You are strong, but there is a flaw in your strength, and unless you learnt o control it the flaw will prove stronger than your strength and defeat you. The flaw?
To such an extent that he boy seems to be using dangerous methods of retaliation. Based on his irrational impulses taken when things don’t go his way, it is evident that Rufus is growing up with an entitled and vindictive attitude. Dana is alarmed by Rufus’s actions and logic and analyzes, “The boy already knew more about revenge than I did. What kind of man was he going to grow up into?
In life, you will have a time where you must make a hard choice, one that could impact your life significantly. Once settling with the right decision you instantly get hit by regret and anxiety, questioning yourself if you choose the right decision or not. Emotions cause negative outcomes, affect people's lives. In the novel Lord Of The Flies, Roger had the decision to kill piggy. He has the chance to kill piggy, so he did.
An excellent portrayal of this recklessness is in Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet. In this book we see how the ability to control emotions is impaired as a result of teenage brain development and hormones. Romeo and Juliet move too fast as a result of their inability to make mature decisions. For example, Romeo and Juliet plan to get married after meeting each other only hours before at the party; “What o’clock

Situations which occur in particular are when he orders the slaughter of Macduff’s family and servants, becomes heartless towards those who feel emotion, and is apathetic towards his wife’s passing. Plans to eliminate Macduff’s “wife, [] babes, and all.../That trace him in his line” are constructed. If Macbeth had not shut off his emotions he would not have been able to make such an abhorrent decision. Comparatively, the recently crowned ruler of Scotland has become insensitive towards who still experience emotions.
The responsibility which the characters feel here comes from an impulse of their
