Synopsis: In the book The Contract by Derek Jeter, he is a book about his childhood life before he was a professional baseball player. In this book, Derek is about 8 years old, who recently moved to Kalamazoo, Michigan, from New Jersey. Derek fit in when he made it clear that he was a sports kid, and for baseball too. His best friend was somebody who came to his school after he moved there named Vijay. Derek has played little since he was about 3 and never wanted to stop. Derek’s dream, that he wrote about for school, was to be a shortstop for the Yankees. Derek also loved his family, and made a commitment with his parents that he would follow the rules of the “Contract”. Derek finally gets into the little league and realizes his coach doesn’t like him, and has to find out why. Favorite Character: In my opinion, my favorite character is the main character, Derek. This is because Derek acts just like other kids, is mature, funny, and has a lot of problems. I believe that many people this age will have problems whether they are in school or at home. This proves that Derek lives a normal life and can have difficult situations. Derek also has many problems he has to solve, just like anybody in the world does. These problems could be with his baseball team, family, or even friends. Lastly, I love the way Derek is willing to help …show more content…

This was my favorite part of the book because it shows that you always have to think before you act. This lesson can help others with various situations when doing something questionable. Derek signed this contract because he wanted a way to go to the Yankees game. Since his parents didn’t let him go to the Yankee game, he thought of a plan to go by following the rules that they make on the
