Benedict Arnold was one of the most influential traitors during the Revolutionary War Era. He was a member of the Sons of Liberty. He was a general when he fought for America. Benedict Arnold led the attack at the British Fort of Ticonderoga. Later he became infamous for being a traitor, fighting for the British.
Benedict Arnold began the Revolutionary War as a militia captain. Arnold and his men went towards Boston. He then presented the attack of Fort Ticonderoga. Arnold accompanied a man named Ethan Allen, and the group he made called the Green Mountain Boys.(Bio) The Green Mountain Boys were a militia created to fight people trying to steal from them. A British fleet under the commands of Sir Guy Carleton defeats 15 American ships. Brigadier Benedict Arnold was in charge of the 15 American ships. Though most ships were taken down, it took more than two days from the British to conquer American ships. During the middle of the night on October 11th, 1776 Arnold gathered his remaining ships and decided to go south, going through the British ships. The fog was thick as the rest of Arnold’s ships quietly rowed past the British, once past the British they rowed furiously. The next morning the British, to their surprise, discovered Arnold’s fleet had escaped. On October 13, due to a change in wind direction, Arnold’s luck came to an end as the British caught up to his ships. After trying to hold their ground, Arnold told his remaining ships to go through a narrow and shallow opening where the British could not follow. Once there, they stripped their boats of anything valuable and burned the ships. Arnold and his surviving men went to Crown Point, where they burned the remaining buildings and
