To kill one’s self and purposely taking a life from another person are acts that come from unhappy people. Unfortunately, suicide and murder are very common topics not only in conversations but also in a lot of published literature. Jay Asher, the author of Thirteen Reasons Why, wrote a book about a girl who committed suicide and left tape recordings explaining the events that lead to her death. The Perks of Being a Wallflower by Stephen Chbosky describes what can happen to a kid who posses suicidal or homicidal thoughts. The Fault In Our Stars by John Green is about two cancer patients and their love story.

13 Reasons Why is a drama series that is on Netflix, the main purpose of this show is to display how teen bullying can ultimately lead to suicide. In the show, Hannah Baker is a new student at Liberty High School. As we know being a new student can be difficult and challenging but for Hannah it was different, her bullying was not the same as everyone else’s. The biggest reason why this show was created was to show everyone that all of those “little things” people do can add up and make people turn to the breaking point.
The novel focuses on certain behaviours that make young people more susceptible to suicide - the inability to grieve in a proper way and the lack of understanding and empathy from adults. For example, instead of helping these young people to express the emotions they are feeling over the deaths of friends or coping with intense stresses and difficult situations, The Program's very existence is pushing these teens to bury their feelings, creating more problems. I began this project by finding an understanding the answer to the question “why?”. To do this I had to find personal experiences throughout history that have had the answer to that question. I found the answer in a particular way, by looking at those who have survived suicide. In particular I focused on those who have survived jumping off of the Golden Gate Bridge, since this is such a famous place for the amount of suicides committed there. Survivors often regret their decision in midair, if not before.
Sexism in the twentieth century was very much alive, women were expected to serve their husbands and take care of the children. The stories “Wall of Fire Rising”, “Fiesta”, and “Giaconda Smile” use marriage to portray the sexism that we are accustomed to. They show a pattern of male dominance and a state of patriarchy. This type of portrayal by the authors may be on purpose to show an ugly aspect of our society.
13 Reasons Why is about a high school student, Hannah Baker, who commits suicide. Two weeks after death, her former classmate, Clay Jensen finds a box on his porch. When he opens the box, he finds cassette tapes explaining 13 reasons why Hannah chose to commit suicide. The effects of suicide are tragic and felt long after the individual has taken their own life. Some people who consider suicide, however, never make a “serious” attempt at it. For every attempted suicide, there is said to be more than one person whose thought of suicide has never translated into an actual attempt.
Suicide is a dominant cause of death among teenagers and young adults. The rate of suicides and suicide attempts increases from time to time. For some, suicide is the permanent solution to a temporary problem and most pressing public health issues across the world. Suicides case is so often these days even becoming a trend and we are not even flinch anymore. The depression and substances abuse for teenagers currently become issues that lead to suicide cases among teenagers.
