American Apparel uses the design of its homepage to make a strong appeal to the emotions of its buyers. While the company sells to males, females, children, and animals, its website makes it clear that they are specifically targeting young women. The homepage exclusively shows pictures of young, attractive female models. These ads assert and illustrate the idea that if someone buys the American Apparel brand, they too can look like the models in the pictures. Obviously this isn’t a logical argument, but it is not meant to be.
History Roommates at Lehigh University Richard Hayne and Scott Belair founded urban Outfitters in 1970. The two were just getting back from doing internships and volunteer work after completing their freshman year of college. Coming back for their sophomore year, the two discussed ideas of a store that sells inexpensive clothes and accessories for dorm rooms. The two open Free People Store in Philadelphia investing $5,000, the store sold inexpensive wore clothes, drug paraphernalia, candles, shirts, and jewelry. Successfully staying in business the two changed the name from Free People Store to Urban Outfitters.
There are many things that we associate ourselves with, or that we like having. A lot of us like clothes. A lot of clothes. A variety of clothes that we can wear to match however we are feeling. Oftentimes, the fabrics we wear or possess mean something to us, whether they are from someone special or passed down through generations.
Manufacturer/wholesaler Kids Blanka by Zoe was introduced around 15 years ago by Zoe Rock. Kids Blanks have created a collection of clothes and accessories that pampers the smallest members of the family with the softest, cuddliest fabrics available (website). The clothing is also as adorable as they are comfortable and of great quality with amazing prices which is the major reason why I selected this particular manufacturing company. Kid Blanks offers customers all over the USA free fright on regular items of a certain quantity. They also offer low prices for custom manufacturing and their warehouses can be found all over the United States.
In 1998 Sean Combs launched his collection of clothing, sneakers, and fragrance called Sean John. Combs clothing line in 2008 acquired 20 million dollars. His fragrance was a joint venture with EST Lauder. In 2006 finally his collection of fragrances was released. Of course his cologne Sean John was the number one selling fragrance in the U.S.
Hollister offers wide range of consumer shopping goods related to the Clothing line. They offer different product with different versions to Dudes and bettys include graphic and “crew and tee shirts”, polo’s, Henley’s, cardigans, shirts, pullovers, outerwear, rinse or wash slim jeans, flip-flops, shoes, perfume and boxers. Product Attributes: High Quality, Unique comfortable designs inspired by the SoCal Theme and different styles and Colorful patterns. Product Packaging Hollister is well-known for its stylish shopping bags that use young attractive models on them.

The description for the sweater on “All My Life For Sale” had certain key things such as how he was able to trade in a vest to get the sweater, a jacket, and a few other things leading me to believe that these items were acquired form a more expensive shop and that they may be in a cold climate. Another key thing that stuck out to me was that he said he looked preppy in the sweater which supported my idea that the audience is probably geared towards a person that may may be in a cold climate that wants to look a little more upper class. The description of the sweater on eBay spoke about how it was hand-knit from a local woman in Ireland.
Fleeting trends during this time included jelly shoes, parachute pants, leg warmers and so much more. Although many look back and see these as silly, numbers of the 1980’s trends have reared their heads in modern culture in the form of ironic tee shirts, mom jeans, and bodysuits (DeLeon). Although many things seemed good in the 1980’s, there was also issues plaguing America. The drug epidemic had by then spun completely out of control.

Although the premise of That 70’s Show is mostly accurate to the 1970’s, there are still aspects and values of the 1970’s that would not be addressed if the show had debuted in the 1970’s rather than the 1990’s.
