Many of urban planners have criticized the Pilot Plan of Brasilia due to having motorcar based transportation network. Motorcar based transportation concept has increased private automobile ownership and decreased the mobility of residents in the city. Also, pedestrian based transportation system being inadequate out of Superblocks and inefficient over passing systems over the arterial expressways makes the connection of residents with other urban space difficult. As well as automobile dependency, the bus transportation fails to satisfy with comfortable and easy transit for residents. Some urban planners claim that inadequate pedestrian transportation in monumental scale and gracious (social) scale diminishes the social interaction among individuals. It is very obvious that Costa did not consider existing Brazilian urban and street fabric in his design of Brasilia as did many modernist urban planners. All residential buildings having same facades and restricting floor numbers within narrow range caused monotony in Superblocks. As Beauchesne & Santos (2011) states that after her Brasilia journey, French writer Simon de Beauvoir expressed her impressions concerning Superquadras (Superblocks): "despite superficial variations, exuding the same air of elegant monotony..." (190). Also, Brasilia was not designed by considering the low-income segment of the society so, many people belonged to working class had to live satellite town surrounding areas of Brasilia. Those people had to travel the long distance to come to work, for they comprised an essential part of the labor force of Brasilia.
