When I read the chapter 14, I learned narration means a story and some analysis of that story. And how is making this story in alive by communicating between concept. Also, I think in paragraph 2 in page 375 “Good narration has five essential features – a clear context; well- chosen and thoughtfully emphasized details; a logical, often chronological organization’ an appropriate and consistent point of view’ and a meaningful point or purpose.”, is very helpful to effective your writing. In addition, I think specific details, particular images and language that helps make your story come alive that makes good narration or improve your writing skills.
For this quarter, I learned how to choose a good topic and how to use the diction and tone skills by use the right word in right place. And …show more content…

Welty gives us more illustrative description of the store with large details from memory and from her visit that is still possible. For example, when she describes from the brick exterior until inside the store such as in first paragraph “Our little Store rose right up from the sidewalk; standing in a street of family house, it alone hadn’t any yard in front, any tree or flower bed. It was plain frame building covered over with brick ..”.
The second essay “Yarn” by Kyoko Mori, Mori use the effective description in her essay by describe her story with knitting and her memory life’s in Japan. Then, how she developed a successful life in USA when she leaves Japan at the first chance she had. For example, in first paragraph in Page 413” the yellow mittens I made in seventh-grade home economics proved that I dreamed in color. For the unit on knitting, we were supposed to turn in a pair of mittens. The two hands had to be precisely the same size so that …”, she described her own story with knitting with that home
