Chaim Potok’s The Chosen is a mysterious novel with very interesting dialogue and detail. Although the narrator’s name is never said or mentioned, Potok still managed to write this thrilling novel that has readers at the edge of their seats. In this novel, a 15 year-old boy, who is a protagonist, has a deep love for baseball shares Jewish culture and habits. Him and all the boys who go to school together play baseball on their spare time and are all on the same baseball team. While being friends and sharing many hobbies, the boys finally meet anonymous narrator’s father.
Greed, Stinginess and Foolishness: An Ultimate Path to Demise As said by the ancient Greek philosopher Socrates “He who is not contented with what he has, would not be contented with what he would like to have” (http://www.goodreads.com /quotes/tag /greed) Socrates aimed this quote to show that greed cannot be quenched, which is one of the many traits portrayed by the main character in “The Devil and Tom Walker”, written by Romantic writer Washington Irving. This trait, among other, can characterize Tom Walker. Therefore, Tom walker can be characterized as Greedy, stingy and foolish. First Tom walker is a very greedy man.
On February 19, 2010 Tiger woods, a well-known golfer, took to the stand in front of a small group of family members, cameras, and media personalities. The subject of the press conference was to apologize for the cheating spree that he went on while married to Elin Nordegren. Woods took to the stand bearing multiple pieces of paper which he read directly from. During the speech he carried no pity for himself but at the same time asked the media to respect his privacy and allow him to make the changes needed in his life. From that moment on, the criticism, mockery, and foolish jokes began to surround Woods and his family.

In Ray Bradbury’s “All Summer in a Day,” the past seven years have been rainy; therefore, the students read about the sun to find out the peculiar mishappenings. Similarly, in the story “The Most Dangerous Game” by Richard Connell, Rainsford pushes himself to solve the mystery of the unknown rainforest. Both authors create the tone and mood of the story to represent how one should always strive for what they believe.

In Arthur Miller’s The Crucible, John Proctor, the main protagonist of the play faces several situations in which he struggles both internally and externally; all of the struggles that Proctor encounters throughout the story heavily affect those around him, but most importantly they impact the way that he perceives Salem and his own life. Truthfully, the troubles that Proctor experiences in life are the most impactful occurrences in The Crucible because they reflect the righteousness that is within him, even in times of corruption; it is ultimately Proctor’s ability to discover righteousness that allows him to be seen as an tragic hero. Though all the qualities that man gives to the tiger is not true about it, it is however the way the mind of man shapes the tiger to exist in the mind. How the tiger is understood does not change what the tiger is in real existence just in cognitional existence. This is not saying that humans cannot come to know who or what another being is, rather, depending on the complexity of a thing, it takes interaction and contemplation to know another being. So the Detroit Tigers baseball team does reflect characteristics of a pack of tigers while at the same time still being human. It is from here that it becomes related on a singular level.
The sketch that most exhibits the message and emotions that were delivered from Jonathan Edwards’ sermon “Sinners in the Hands of an Angry God” illustrates a man in a room, and the Virgin Mary outside the window. This sketch is a personal favorite of mine because the emotions and message were conveyed in a very powerful manner. This sketch made me stop and think and made me view it from a different perspective. It was abstractly painted, and the colors used accurately demonstrate the mood, environment, and time period in which this sermon was spoken. In sinners in the hands of an angry God Jonathan Edward’s most effectively appeals to the people who have yet to convert to a puritan's by using rhetorical analysis. One of the first metaphors he uses was when he was describing the fire that God holds you over and if provoked (when you sin) he will drop you down to hell. He uses a great analogy when he talks about it because he says”The God that holds you over the pit of hell much as one holds a spider or some loathsome insect over the fire”, and that is a real interpretation of what we are to God in Edward’s eyes. All these metaphors can also be used as imagery too because the author uses such good words and phrases it good that you can imagine what he is saying.

God Gives Us Free Will Jonathan Edwards preaches that if people follow God and obey him they will experience his great mercy. “Sinners in The Hands of an Angry God,” he explains this concept in his sermon. Most people back in 1741 and to this day would be persuaded by his sermon about the Lord because of how passionately and strongly he spoke about his beliefs’. In this sermon Edwards refers to Gods everlasting wrath. He describes Gods anger towards those who do not follow and believe in Him.

In today 's society, many of the decisions people make lead to riots in the streets and people getting hurt. Similarly, the Ferguson riot in Missouri years ago, where many civilians were injured because of decisions made by everyone involved. On July 8, 1741 Jonathan Edwards delivered the sermon “Sinners in the Hands of an Angry God.” During this time many people were moving away from their Puritan beliefs and did not make God a priority. In the message he talked about how everyone was a sinner and how everyone belongs in hell. He also talked about how if God wanted to He would throw everyone in Hell, but since He gave us His Son we should take Him and repent. While delivering this message many people began to repent and ask for forgiveness.
The constant struggle to be the best at everything, and to be better than everyone else puts a lot of pressure on the people in our society. We feel as if we need to maintain the facade of perfection because of the standards society places on us, money matters because society judges us based on class. Even though we are one society, we end up breaking the minds of people who tried to realize a life of perfection only to fail. “In spite of its elusiveness, we remain fixated on perfection. Often enough, even when we know the flaws, we still defend an image of flawlessness.
