The question of the existence or non-existence of God has been an argument that has continued for decades. Philosophers and non-philosophers have argued both sides but a shed of solid evidence for or against the existence of God has not been established. In my opinion, anyone who attempts to answer the questions will soon realize that not only is it such a broad question but rather an overwhelmingly consuming exploration. In Islam, Judaism, and Christianity, God is defined as a sovereign being that exceeds humanity and the universe he created. Thomas Aquinas articulates ‘five ways’ in which God does exist. First is the ‘unmoved mover’ argument. Which states that motion in the world is started by a ‘first mover’, in other words – by God. The second is the ‘nothing is caused by itself’ argument, that there is always a first cause, and that it is God. The cosmological argument which is the third, argues that all things in nature at one point didn’t exist but now does. In other words, all physical things depend on something enteral for existence. The fourth articulates that the cause all the being, goodness and everything perfection that we discover in beings in the world is from God. I know have to look very far, it’s on the news, in magazines and newspapers. Everyday there are occurrences of people being raped, murdered, beaten, enslaved and abused. People have suffered through wars, exterminations, and genocides. The fact is that humanity has evil in it, and so evil contradicts the existence of God. As stated in The Bible several times that God loves us, in that case if he loves us why would he have evil exist within us? Some may suggest it’s a form of tough love. With the characteristics of ‘all-powerful, all knowing and all loving’ wouldn’t God want to prevent evil from transpiring and know how to prevent it from every happening? Parallel to evil is the existence of hell. If the all loving loved us, why would he send his creation to a burning ecosystem for eternity?
