The fantasy short story that I read this week is called “The Cowardly Lion and the Hungry Lion” by L. Frank Baum. The story tells the tale of two beasts, a lion and a tiger, who responsibilities were to remain at Ozma’s throne as guard animals in the Royal Palace of Emerald City. One day, they thought to themselves that no one would ever attack and their jobs are simply not important so they decided to fulfill one of their desires. The lion wanted to attack the first man he saw and “make chop suey out of him”(), while the tiger longed to eat a fat baby. The two roam the streets of Emerald City in an attempt to satisfy their desires but they found no one except a lost, crying baby who they ended up rescuing and returning to the mother. My favorite
