A Christmas Carol is a novella and film by Charles Dickens. It narrates a fictional story of a man named Ebenezer Scrooge who is visited by the ghosts of Christmas past, present, and future in order to convince him to change his poor outlook on life and his greed. The themes of A Christmas Carol overlap with Gospel teachings, such as the dangers of greed and how the poor should be treated with generosity. The theme of greed is represented in A Christmas Carol through the main character, Scrooge.
In the movie The Christmas Carol, Ebenezer Scrooge is visited by three spirits. Scrooge did not like Christmas because his partner died on Christmas eve. This caused him to hate Christmas, and become a cold, hearted person. His last visit effected him in an emotional way. It changed the way he looks at the world, and has emotions for the people around him.
He couldn’t believe in one night someone could change like he did. It was a miracle and this how. In the play and in the movie, Scrooge both unappreciated Christmas the way it was. In the movie and the play, Scrooge passed by some carolers.

In the movie The Christmas Carol he shows his cold-heart toward others refusing to make a donation for the good of the poor, claiming they are better off dead. However in the story Ebenezer is visited by the spirits of Christmas past, present, and future on Christmas Eve. Each spirit shows Scrooge to view three different times in his life in order to teach him a lesson.
He appreciated his time with people and realized Christmas was more than he thought. First scrooge is a cold hearted business man that only cares about money. If people ask him if he will donate money to the poor he tells them to go die to decrease the population. And he will not even give money to his own family because of how greedy he is. Scrooge's old business partner Marley died 7 years ago on christmas. But then he came back as a ghost to warn him that if he keeps being mean and greedy when he dies he will end up like marley.
In the place of Ebenezer Scrooge’s outlook on life, he feels no joy. Ever since his lifelong business partner, Jacob Marley, kicked the bucket, Scrooge became more stingy than he ever was. A time of useless giving, robbery, is what Scrooge sees Christmas as.

Until The Ghost of Christmas Past appears to him. The Ghost of Christmas Past begins to expose Scrooge's true selfishness and insistence on keeping everything for himself as he undergoes his metamorphosis. After the change, Scrooge wants to live a better life.

Instead of rudely gesturing to people, he is now starting to act nicer, and more mature.

Here Dickens introduces a greedy, self contained and penny-pinching character.
