Many of the novels and plays that were chosen for this semester exceeded my expectations, because the books proved to be entertaining and a joy to read. After evaluating my thoughts on each book, I came to the conclusion that The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Nighttime most closely reflects of what I would consider to be a work of art.
The elements and writing style of this novel exemplify a sophistication that is unique in its own way. Most novels do not include pictorial examples throughout the text. The exceptional style of writing provides the reader with an image of what the protagonist sees throughout his journey instead of leaving it to the imagination of the reader. This disorder tends to cause controversy because most people do not understand the mindset of a person who suffers from the disorder. The novel provides an insight into the thought processes and feelings a person can experience when suffering from Asperger. After reading this book, I gained a better comprehension on the psychological and behavioral aspects that control the neurological processes of the brain. I personality do not have a back ground in understanding Asperger syndrome other than explanations provided from medical studies. The writing style of this story, especially when Christopher gets anxious or nervous, really explains all the thought processes a child must go through relying on every explanation of a scenario to explain a simple situation. I believe the author must have experience with Autism to provide such an excellent representation of the disorder. This novel proved to be intriguing and a learning experience for myself and out of all novels in this course I enjoyed this one the
