In The Curious Incident of the Dog in the night Christopher’s parents share one important aspect which is the frustration of not being able to understand Christopher with the condition he has. In the book Christopher thought his mother was dead until he found some letters that was written to him while looking for his book that his father took. When he read the letters he found out his mother was alive and she was living london. In one of the letters she talked about how her and Christopher went shopping, and while they were shopping and Christopher was frightened by all the people inside of there. She said he then went on the floor and covered his ear, When she told him to get up he refused and start to scream and knock things off the shelves.
Christopher excels beyond his comfort zone by always relying on the logic, math, maps and through the murder investigation. Through the use of symbolism in Mark Haddon 's novel The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Nighttime the author highlights the loss of innocence as one endures life challenges. Haddon uses the concept of the murder investigation to represent the loss of innocence of Christopher. Prior to the killing of Wellington,

A New Mindset Shaped by Regret In The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time by Mark Haddon the characters tensions and social interactions suggests that one should not judge a person based on their actions, but instead try to understand what led them to act a certain way. To start off, Christopher’s relationship with Mrs. Shears demonstrates how quickly a person makes an assumption based on an action. In the beginning of the novel when Mrs. Shears finds Christopher hugging Wellington, he recalls, “I had been hugging the dog for 4 minutes when I heard screaming.
Christopher doesn’t like loud noises, there are a lot of loud noises in his life. This is very hard for him because he cant avoid it. Unlike his dislike for yellow food where he can avoid eating it. Also, him not knowing how to ride the subway by himself, which was hopefully just a one time thing, loud noises happen all the time and he can’t avoid them. Mark Haddon's prose fiction, The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time brings forth the view of a different world and also expands our understanding of human experience. The novel is an autobiographical murder mystery narrated from the perspective of a teenager, Christopher Boone. This text allows the readers to see the life of a young man who is not comfortable with interacting with others in his society. Christopher's autism spectrum disorder (ASD) shapes our understanding of experience. Haddon is able to portray interesting ideas within the text through the narrator, thus inviting us into a different world and allowing us to see a new viewpoint.
The curious incident of the dog in the night-time by Mark Haddon is a novel introduced by its protagonist Christopher Boone in an unreliable first person prespective due to his inability to emphasize with others and his lack of social awareness. Christopher is an unreliable character since he cannot emphasize with others. He is unable to fully understand how others are feeling and he describes others feelings inaccurately to the reader. This is shown very clearly at the end of the novel when he states, “…mother got a job on the till in a garden center and the doctor gave her pills to take every morning to stop her from feeling sad, except that sometimes they made her dizzy and she fell over if she stood up too fast” (Haddon, 216). This points out how Christopher does not actually understand how his mom feels because if he did, he would have described his mothers obvious condition, Depression.
The reader may recognize Christopher’s misunderstanding, resulting in different views of the events that takes place. For instance, even though Christopher creates a fear of his father because he think he is going to murder him, the readers can see that the way Christopher reacts is rather excessive. These different viewpoints gives the novel a sense of irony and a bit of comedy, as even some characters gets frustrated when they can’t get Christopher to understand them. This actually emphasizes the idea that people have their unique way of viewing the world. We might sometimes see Christopher as simply just ridiculous; we might also sympathize with Christopher and understand his struggles.
The Curious Incident Of The Dog In The Night-Time can be seen as a Bildungsroman, which is also known as a coming of age novel.
