The book The day I met Suzie written by Chris Higgins expresses the way a person can be easily manipulated and blinded by another. The character Indigo only sees the good things in people, when Indigo met Suzie she took her under her wing, unaware of Suzie manipulative action throughout. Firstly, the meeting of Suzie and how Indigo felt sympathy towards her. The way Suzie try’s to take over Indigo’s life and become her. The way in which everyone could see what Suzie was doing except for Indigo and finally how Suzie changed and manipulated the behaviour of Indigo.

The way in which Indigo met Suzie demonstrates how she used manipulative behaviour to make Indigo feel sympathy towards her. Indigo describes Suzie as “thin and wispy-looking” (pg.6) and feels sympathy towards her and assumes it is safe to do so as she appears harmless. Without thought Indigo is manipulated to give Suzie information about herself. “She’s staying with me” (pg.6) is Indigos response when Suzie is asked for an address when registering for college. Indigo was blinded due to her kindness towards Suzie resulting in Indigo giving out crucial information about her life, her house address and what course she is par-taking in, resulting in Suzie choosing the exact same one. Through half way of the story Suzie became more influential on her behaviour and she started doing things she never thought she would. Indigo stole money from her sister and never told her she was the one who did it. “I don’t even look, I just slide them out and stuff them in my pocket.” (pg 214) Not only did she steal money from her family also from her work. When Indigo had no more money she went and illegally obtained money from an unknown man and service. Suzie caused Indigo to change her actions to fix what Suzie had destroyed in her
