“Journey to Rome, we must” said the centurion. Rome was being aggressed by an unknown force, and the Emperor called all troops back to Rome for extra security. His group of soldiers had been assigned to Sicily to stop a potential uprising. While the escadrille was apprehending the uprising, nearly one-hundred members of the Roman senate had been killed! Nobody knew who had killed them or why but the citizens suspected it was the start of something. The second blow came when the Pantheon was burned to the ground. Now the people were now starting to believe they were under attack. The next morning it was found that a few hundred people were maimed and killed the night before and all there remains were left in one basement, and burned. Then, a huge blunder came crashing down on the soldiers. One of the troops tripped and fell down, causing all the other troops fall, and as you might have guessed, caused a huge racquet. The centurion froze. So did the other soldiers. All was quiet. Did no one wake up? Could they dodge the bullet without a graze mark? The escadrille was dead silent. Then there was a faint rumble. It grew louder and louder until it was almost upon them. Just as the deep grumble was about to be on them the centurion shouted “Turtle Formation!” Instantly, the Roman soldiers turned their bodies and their shields in a smooth elegant way, almost like clockwork. If you did not know, a Roman Turtle Formation is a defensive stance that a centurion will command upon the soldiers should the circumstances need it. The soldiers in the middle hold their shields up, while the soldiers on the edges hold their shields towards whichever side edge they are on (So a soldier on the left edge will hole their shield to the left) Every soldier does this, effectively removing almost any chance of a soldier being injured or killed.
