According to Michael Lipka, a senior editor from Pew Research Center, “18% of Americans say they’ve seen a ghost,” (Lipka, 2015). Commonly, ghost sightings are closely linked with hauntings and are a sure fire way to give watchers an uneasy feeling. When most people think of a haunted scenery, they probably think of places including: a moonlit graveyard, an old, abandoned house, or the small, dark path between their house and the trashcans. These settings are effortless to spot as being possibly paranormal due to their lack of light and overall creepiness. However, one of the most haunted locations may be the hardest to identify and most unimaginable, Disneyland. Although there have been many ghost sightings, including those of a teenage boy who walks the monorails and a lady in white who wanders that park, one stands out among them all, the ghost of Walt Disney himself. Currently, the park has a tradition of keeping Disney’s former apartment’s lights continuously on, but how did this tradition begin? Story has it, once after finishing cleaning up a Disneyland employee went to turn off all the lights. To her surprise, as she went to do this they suddenly began to flicker on and off while she heard someone whisper, “I’m still here.” Ever since the lights have been kept on (Waugh, 2015). No matter what scenario you give them, involving a possible ghost, they will find some minute detail to try to disprove it. However, even though ghosts are a big part of a particular place being haunted, it is not the only part. According to Dictionary.com, one definition of haunted is, “disturbed; distressed; worried.” With this, it is quite easy to group the handling of the several mortalities and ash scatterings occurring at Disneyland with one of these words.
