On June 12, 1987, the President of the United States, Ronald Reagan, delivered a speech addressing the world on the positive and negative impacts of the Berlin Wall. Given near the end of the Cold War, Reagan’s speech addresses the negative effects that communism had on not only Berlin, but the whole world. Using historical allusions and examples of repetition, Reagan proves that tearing down the Berlin Wall will promote the world’s economy and freedom.
