According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), it is estimated that about 75% of the 1.7 million TBIs that occur annually in the United States are mild TBIs or concussions. The number of emergency department visits for sports and recreation-related concussion has significantly increased by 60% over the past decade.
