When the gray car pulled onto the driveway two houses down from my house, I closed my book and walked to the window of my room. Carefully peeking through the blinds of my window, I saw the car door opening. Karen walked out of the car, and opened the trunk. Before seeing what exactly she took out of the trunk, the light reflection of the setting sun made me more curious. Two wheels with metal handles, between the wheels were a folded chair, and two footrests. After setting up a wheel chair, Karen opened the back door of the car, and bent her body down. She reached into the car, and came out holding Jacob in her arms. He kept his head down, holding a robot in his hand. The sun shines on him as Karen carefully puts him down on the wheelchair. The sun slowly went down from the sky, and long shadows followed behind Jacob as Karen slowly pushed the wheelchair into their house. …show more content…

Confused and curious, I looked towards the front door of the house. The first things I saw coming out of the door were the familiar footrests. This time, there is a pair of shoes on those footrests. Before everything processed in my head, I saw Jacob and Karen coming through the door. Jacob was wearing a sweater with cars and puppies on it, and blue pants that made his legs seem ethereal. I suddenly remembered what my mom told me the a few hours after I told her about seeing Jacob arriving home in a wheelchair that night. “Jacob went with his best friends to travel for few days for his Thanksgiving break and they got into a huge car accident. Jacob was sitting on the side of the car where it was damaged the most. His legs were stuck in the car, and he probably wouldn’t be able to walk again for a long period of
