The definition of freedom has changed over history. The enlightenment, and imperialism affected the way we see freedom today. Imperialism did sway the freedom back to the past ways, but the outcome of imperialism taught us that it is not a good idea. The world is more free than it was in the past, because of the ideas of the enlightenment and imperialism, which made the modern day world more free. The Enlightenment made the world become more free because of the ideas that were spread during the time period. The Scientific Revolution was a period of time where philosophers such as Galileo and Isaac Newton proved that the church was not always right, and they proved this with science. The people began to question the church, and their power over the people. Philosophers such as Locke, suggested that all people were born equal, and that the citizens can improve, and overthrow the government if they don’t agree with its actions. The enlightenment philosophers were one of the first to suggest a world where the people had control over the place where they were living. These ideas eventually lead to the French Revolution, which occurred after the people of France decided to rebel over their government, after seeing the successful revolution of the Americans. The power shifted to the people, for the first time in France.
