Prior to this case, a New York ruling permitted the banning of motion pictures if they were deemed sacrilegious. Burstyn was part of a distribution company and owned the exclusive rights to distribute the Italian film “The Miracle” throughout the United States. After about eight weeks of exhibition, the NYS Board of Regents received hundreds of messages against the shoeing of the film. After reviewing the film, the board deemed it sacrilegious and it’s license was rescinded. Burstyn brought the action to the New York courts, claiming that it was a violation of the Fourteenth Amendment and that the term sacrilegious was too vague and indefinite.
After I watched “Losing their Marbles –Greece” it reminded me of the Axum obelisk, which was recently returned to its home country Ethiopia after 68 years. This obelisk was looted by fascist Italian dictator Benito Mussolini. There were Ethio-Italy war, in the late 19th century and Italy defeated by Ethiopian at Adwa, but the fascist Italy, invaded Ethiopia, again in 1935 and the war was lasted for five years. During this war, the Italian military controlled the northern parts of Ethiopia, and the Ethiopian different heritages were in the northern part of the country. When the Italian went back to their home they took different Ethiopian heritages, one of this was Axum obelisk.

The Fall of West Rome Despite being one of the largest, most successful empires in the world, the Roman Empire faced a multitude of major issues for centuries, a majority of which ultimately led to its downfall. An early solution to these problems was to divide the empire into the east and west. While it allowed East Rome to avoid some of these issues, West Rome continued to struggle and this division eventually contributed to its collapse. One of the main issues stemmed from the fact that Rome was built on imperialism, which meant they had to continuously expand to sustain itself, leading to several problems with overextension, wars, and a lack of resources.

Starting at a young age my family had stressed the importance of embracing my Italian heritage. My father, mother and grandfather each contributed in showing me that in order to honor our Italian heritage you must demonstrate three qualities as a young man. My father is responsible for teaching me respect and how to give every individual you meet total and complete respect. Similarly my mother is responsible for teaching me love, how to love and how to spread love throughout the world. As for my grandfather, he taught me what courage is and how to always be courageous.
In Rome, much like in other areas of the world, there were specific times of day where people would dedicate themselves to eating. The times of day were similar to what is seen now in America, with a meal taking hold in the morning, midday, and evening. Though the meals evolved and changed as the empire itself did, one can look at the different meals and be able to make connections between them and those of today’s importance. Commonly in Rome the first acknowledgeable meal would be called ientaculum. It was not extraordinary and some citizens of the empire forwent it entirely.

The Edict of Milan (313) was a milestone document promising “to give both to Christians and to all others free facility to follow the religion which each may desire”. Although on the surface it appears that the Edict of Milan was a genuine attempt to give equality before the law to Christians, who were severely persecuted under the previous Emperor Diocletian (r. 284- 305), in reality, a number of political, social and ideological influences on Emperors Constantine (r. 306- 337) and Licinius (r. 308- 324) reveal further motivations for the creation of the edict; primarily among these factors- their political cunning. The political context of the time period gives reasoning to Constantine’s conversion to Christianity, and thereby his motives for the creation of the edict. The Edict of Milan was written in 313 CE; directly following a victory by Constantine at Milvian Bridge in 312, which Constantine attributed to a sign from the Christian God.(1) Constantine believed the Christian God to be the most powerful of all the Gods; to not show support for the Christian God could mean to incur his wrath, but to make peace with him was to have a
