The Epiphany Paragraph 1 I lost my footing and fell seven feet down to the leaf-covered, damp ground…again. It was the summer of 2007, and my family and I were two weeks into our annual vacation to Ohio. This year we decided to stay at my Uncle Jeff’s newly built house by a vast forest that he owned. Jeff recently bought the land and everyone was begging to spend the rest of the trip there. Along with my parents and brothers, many of my older cousins decided to stay too for the few months we planned on being there. Out of the ten years of being alive at the time and hearing all the wise words my elders had always pushed on me, I finally learned that year the solution to a successful life was hidden behind simple sayings. Paragraph 2 My luggage hit the oak floor with a loud thud. I was finally in the one place I had dreamed of being the entire year before, the one vacation spot I can’t imagine ever getting tired of – Ohio. That’s when something in my head finally clicked. While walking, I realized that the more I told myself that I couldn’t do something, the more I believed it. Before that night, I had always given up on the tasks I considered impossible and figured that I just wasn’t meant to do certain things others could, when really, it was my lack of confidence and negative attitude that held me back. Coming to my realization, I rushed back to the tree with a positive, hardworking attitude and began to climb again.
