Romantic Comedy directors also have to get certain camera shots. They are usually pretty typical camera angles, so that the story stays simple and easy for an audience to follow. One of the common shots is called the Establishing Shot. It is used to show where the scene is set and where most things will be happening. For example in a Rom Com like Pretty Women, they use establishing shots to show that its in Hollywood so they have a couple shots of the famous hollywood sign. A Lot of time they are taken from a character's point of view or shown from no one's. Another shot is called a Mid-shot. Some that are considered the worst by all media, all websites, and pretty much everyone that has over watched a romantic comedy,are as follows. The first one is Fools Gold with Jennifer Aniston and Matthew Mcconaughey. Both these actors have been in a lot of romantic comedies that have done well, but this one they did not get right. Another bad one is Good Luck Chuck which was made in 2007, according to huffington post it is considered unoriginal and offensive, that is pointless and makes no sense. Another bad one is the Ugly Truth that came out in 2009, but it is believed to be somewhat stupid and interactions seem very fake. However there are some romantic comedies that are considered very good. One of the goods ones is called While You Were Sleeping made in 1995. It is assembled with this great amount of skill and Sandra Bullock does a very good job portraying the character. Another good one is Crazy Stupid Love which was released in 2011. It stars a bunch of famous actors like Steve Carell, Ryan Gosling, Julianne Moore, and Emma Stone. There are a few other good ones like Clueless and Bridget Jones Diary. They hold standards for what the perfect person should be like, and how nothing should come in the way of love. Every director and actor have different ways of portraying romantic comedies, because keeping the same story line and idea for every film would be boring. They change the films up but adding long lost lovers, or health problems. And in some romantic comedies that even tend to make the guy and the girl fall out of love. Either way it ends up with a happy ending which is necessary. What I found interesting is that a certain number of actors are repeatedly shown in multiple romantic comedy films. I learned that a lot of this is because, they have certain characteristics and people love them, and that makes them perfect for rom com films. But apparently starring in rom coms as opposed to mystery or action films isn't usually on the top of there list, and probably don't do as well in the box office. I was also unaware of how much effort actually goes into the naming of romantic comedies and even how they are presented to the public. Obviously this is very important because they want to be able to appear to the correct demographic. But mostly I want to comment on how romantic comedies idealise that idea of love and ones perfect soul mate. I wasn't aware of how many different styles of romantic comedy there is. I just thought that they had more
