What is Evolution? Introduction Evolution is the process by which all living things have developed into sorts of growth changes. Evolution has occurred throughout the history of the planet earth. It is commonly taught throughout the years that the theory of the evolution was originated from Charles Darwin (Denton). Charles Darwin studied the theory of evolution research to conclude that evolution has occurred and has made the idea acceptable for people to understand. Charles Darwin's theory came to understand that any population of the species is slightly different in a way from one another. The Komodo dragons were first discovered in the early 1900s by the name Lieutenant Van Steyn, who heard stories about giant lizards (Gary 2014). A Komodo dragon is identified by their massive size, bowed legs and its long, thick tails. Komodo dragons can reach up to be 10 feet long and tend to weigh around 300 pounds. Varanus Komodoensis share a common ancestor with dinosaurs. It is believed that the Komodo dragon evolved from the Varanus genus that walked the earth millions of years ago (Gary 2014). The Varanus Prisca shares several features with Komodo dragons. Throughout the years of its period of evolution, studies show that fossil records have been confirmed about Komodo dragons having similar skull structures as to Varanus Prisca. "When we compared these fossils to the bones of present-day Komodo dragons, they were identical" (Hocknull). Throughout the past years, Komodo dragon’s bodies are now designed to make them natural swimmer. Komodo Dragons can find themselves close to bodies of water now to catch their preys, which leads to an evolutionary change. Due to their size, strength, and the venom they produce, they don't have any natural predators. A Komodo dragon saliva carries dangerous bacteria and venom so when they do bite, their prey gets infected which results of blood clotting. Studies also currently show that the coloration of the Komodo dragons change has they grow older.
