All people love a great and heroic story or poem. So if people crave it then give them what they want. In the poem The Odyssey written by Homer, that is what he gave them a wonderful story about a cunning hero. He told a story of a ships homecoming that was not to be and lands on an island. They encounter a Cyclops that will not let them leave without eating them all and Odysseus proves that he is indeed smarter than the cyclops and escapes to freedom. So now with that basis. Why do stories like this standout so is even todays time and what is the point of it all? This fantastic story was written in the Eighth Century B.C.E in Greece by the well-known poet Homer. He was able to write great story but as they are so wild almost none of them could actually be true. They are accurate by what they characters so but not by the quest that was completed. If Cyclopes did indeed exist then perhaps this story could be taken for real events. Another thing that leads to it not being a reliable source to the time period was that it was a poem so they made everything very drastic and strung out. They have boring everyday lives now and they need some excitement. It is probably not for little kids with gore and violence but for adults they crave action like that. In the society that they live in they are becoming tame and need the rush again.They need adrenaline flowing though then to still feel alive. Perhaps they also feel the need to learn. Then story has some accuracy on the war and the ship and crew but the island and the cyclops is all made up story just for the imagination.
