One of the programs that have intrigued me in the past is the famous American- Australian film called the Matrix. The film is based on science fiction and was first aired in 1991. It illustrates an illusion of human reality in which people are simulated by complex computer machines called ‘the matrix.' The film engages three main characters; a computer programmer (Neo), and two humans who were originally slaves of the machines (Morpheus and Trinity). In essence, the outline of the matrix brings a wider picture of the hidden truths in human reality that makes the latter to live an artificial life. Taking the example of the evolution of Google, subconsciously, the former depletes our natural ability to comprehend, rendering our brains to depend on the internet. This is similar to how machines in the Matrix' exploit humans. The film has significantly impacted on my affective and cognitive evaluations of consumer culture as well as lifestyle. For instance, the outline of the movie makes me reflect that not only machines but also human beings can influence other people's culture or lifestyle. The film has driven my cautious nature in making new friends as well as adopting new lifestyles due the fear of losing my innate character or for being a slave of someone or something. Accordingly, the teaching of the film is so critical that I enjoy sharing the same with my friends and family.
