The fault in our stars by John Green, is an account of the encounter and the journey of two teenagers who both have cancer. The main character Hazel Grace; suffers from a lung cancer thus she is incapable to breathe without her machine and breathing tubes, earlier in the novel she is depicted more like an observer of her life rather than actually living it. Following her mother’s insistence she joined a support group where she met Augustus Waters ; a seventeen years old lad, she also made the acquaintance of other teenagers battling cancer. Hazel’s encounter with Augustus got her more actively involved in living. The two teenagers embark on a journey of self-exploration and self-actualization from their home to Amsterdam. By the end of the novel the passive hazel comes to the conclusion that the beauty of living does not lie with the number of days, months, or years you have left, but rather in what you chose to do with that amount of time.
