Prejudice is an important aspect to consider whenever a hate crime occurs. Prejudice is the act of making assumptions based on a person's characteristics. According to Sam Richards, people limit their potential experience when they pre-judge. Excluding them from learning and growing, harming not only themselves but their societies growth and culture.[2] Having a bias towards a certain groups people prevents any type of good interaction that could come from meeting and talking with them.
