In the article, “The Fear We Live With” by Jeva Lange (2018) she explains how mass shootings have affected many lives in the United States. She points out that people are very afraid of how the shootings are happening too frequently and America does not care to do anything about it. Mass shootings happen too much in the world and there is not one way to fix them. It takes patience and trust to work together as a community to minimize it. The author’s heading was “what mass shootings have done to the American psyche”(Lange, 2018) meaning how it has affected people. She states the government is not doing anything to prevent mass shootings and they do not care about the people involved. The author does not only agree with this information

The article states, “This week, it happened on a Wednesday…, Twelve days earlier…, Ten months earlier…, Thirteen months earlier”(Lange, 2018). In these quotes, the author repeatedly points out how many people were shot dead and badly injured in over a year. The counting does not stop because she did because the action never stops. This shows here and now those mass shootings are happening continuously which is not right. It does not only affect the people in the incident but it affects the loved ones as well which is devastating. Due to the incident that was happening continuously, she added, “Nothing has been done to prevent them from continuing,”. She shows the concern she has for the people in the United States. That is why people get afraid, they do not know what will happen today or tomorrow. After all, it is unpredictable and nobody can see it

“In 2011, Jeva joined Bennington College where she earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Literature and Nonfiction writing. Later, in 2015 she studied nonfiction writing at Skidmore College”(Jane,2022). She might be credible as a person who is learned but what about her sources? She just gives us information about what some people said but she does not say where she gets them she just introduces the people and says what they think about mass shootings. This shows the source is not credible because there is no trace to figure out where the article comes from which makes it not as believable. However, she does make realistic points throughout her article. She never fails to talk about what she sees and hears. As said before, she wants to be heard and understood and she has done that, from the beginning until the end of her article. Jeva says, “I think about it even when I am not consciously thinking about it — the way I instinctively look for an exit in a room, the way I get nervous when pressed in a crowd.”(Lange,2018). A normal human being does not need credibility to show how scared they are. She shows her vulnerability side with no question. She does not make up her feelings because she manually writes about them. This shows accuracy. While finishing her article she says, “And until we do something to prevent that, we have made peace with being victims of fear ourselves” (Lange,2018).
