“Why, by interweaving our destiny with that of any part of Europe, entangle our peace and prosperity in the toils of European ambition, rival ship, interest, humor, or caprice? It is our true policy to steer clear of permanent alliances with any portion of the foreign world... we may safely trust to temporary alliances for extraordinary emergencies.” This quote from George Washington in his 1796 farewell address describes the opinion of the United States for a majority of its history. Americas public opinion and national policy had the purpose of minimizing the risk of entering another war.
Gaston Campos Blane Harding Ethnic Studies 307 1 December 2016 Kenneth S. “Kingfish” Washington’s Impact One of two black athletes to reintegrate the NFL in 1946: Kenneth S. Washington. Kenny Washington broke the 13-year ban of African American athletes in the National Professional League(NFL). An outstanding athlete from his youth made it possible for Black athletes to play professional football again. Before Washington, there had only been a handful of Black athletes in the NFL since it was established. Washington had to go through an abundant amount of adversity in order to reach the league and allow others of color to be able to play.
An interesting news report that I read was about the inauguration of the first black mayor of the city of Chicago. At the time he was known as the Paramount Politician. This year was 1983, and his name was Harold L. Washington known for his strong speech. In our ethnic diversity, we are all brothers and sisters in a quest for greatness, he was running for mayor at a time when Chicago was still widely segregated. This is one of the things that he wanted to do to try to change the city of Chicago.
This transfers to America becoming active in its own way, as the scheme of lending or leasing American arms to the democracies within need became an idea. This idea became a bill, and left Americans aiding their British ally by sending a limitless amount of arms to avoid sending American boys, that were implicated as a ‘borrowed’ feature. A feature that relates to the President Roosevelt’s analogy of a fire horse representing what someone needs, and how helping comes first and payment comes
THE EXTENT TO WHICH GEORGE WASHINGTON’S PRESIDENCY SET A PRECEDENT FOR THE FUTURE OF THE NATION Noah Pitcher AP United States History 23 May 2018 The first presidential election in United States history was held in 1789. Prior to this election, the United States operated under the Articles of Confederation. In this system, the federal government had no chief executive but was instead led by the congress of the confederation. However, this all changed with the augmentation of the executive branch into the constitution.

George Washington was the man who established the American republic. He led the revolutionary army against the British Empire, he served as the first president, and most importantly he stepped down from power. In an era of brilliant men, Washington was not the deepest thinker. He never wrote a book or even a long essay, unlike George Mason, Thomas Jefferson, James Madison, Alexander Hamilton, and John Adams.
President George Washington knew that a lot of his accomplishments would be viewed as precedents. As being the first President, he set numerous precedents, a significant number of which are still being implemented today. He chose to be called Mr. President as opposed to the title of being called a King, he then created the Presidential Cabinet, established the term limit of two terms for Presidency and was first President to create foreign policy. Those who served under the first Presidential Cabinet that was created by George Washington was: • Vice President John Adams • Secretary of State- Thomas Jefferson • Secretary of The Treasury- Alexander Hamilton • Secretary of War-
Although unrelatable and underappreciated in the eyes of modern history, George Washington shows his greatness through his character. Contemporary culture often neglects to recognise Washington’s greatness. Sadly, he has become a figure so far removed from the ideals and lives of modern Americans, that his name often provokes boredom. Nonetheless, his character proved to be perfect for what America needed during his life. His greatness was largely due to chance.
So, if helping the people who are struggling, puts their citizens lives at risk, they usually choose not to. Such as America not helping the citizens in North Korea, if America were to help that would put them at risk of starting a war and no one would want that. Barry R. Posen writes in the New York Times writes, “North Korea may have as many as 250 missile launchers. Some of which could fire nuclear tipped missiles. If some of these mobile units were dispersed at the time of an American attack, it’s unlikely that the US could destroy all of them before one fires a missile”.
In the book of His Excellency: George Washington by Joseph J. Ellis, the author introduces Washington, the Father of the United States, in a fresh portrait focused on the characters of Washington. This book is an impressive biography of Washington's remarkable dedication to the United States history. According to the author, George Washington is an omnipresent figure as he was growing up, described as the man in the moon who was aloof and silent. This book focuses on Washington's wartime service which became some of his major contributions to the United States, rather than merely telling the true story of Washington, its main thesis is focusing on analyzing his contributions and how his governorship had affected the American history. Washington's life is divided into three areas in this book.
If I could give advice to anyone it would be Alexander Hamilton. There is so much advice he could use throughout history like the fact that i would tell him that when Eliza and Angelica tell him to take a break that it’s in his best interest that he listens, I’d also tell him not to let Philip go to the duel with George Eacker, I’d tell him not to go to the duel with Burr, I’d tell him to not let Laurens go alone, and I’d tell him to stay alive for Eliza. My first piece of advice I’d give him is to listen to Eliza and Angelica when they tell him to take a break. If Alexander listens to Eliza and Angelica he would’ve never had the affair with Maria Reynolds and he wouldn’t have had to go through all the efforts of writing the Reynolds Pamphlet and then he and Eliza would’ve never had to fight for how long they did.

George Washington’s Presidency George Washington, as every American has known since around pre-school, was our nation’s first president. But what if we didn’t have a president? Maybe a king, or even a theocracy? Originally, George Washington thought that maybe a constitution may not work, and a ruling elite may even work better (William P. Kladky). The Constitutional Convention had many long and heated debates on how to best create their government to give equal power to all branches of the government, and a board of three was one of the contenders (William P. Kladky).
This inaction by the decisions of a country influences people to deem their self interests more important than the unity and prosperity of the human race as a whole. Neutrality is a very hard decision and can have a number of different impacts both positive and negative, which is highly controversial but neutrality should not be used as a decision for a country.
