World War I was the massive global war beginning in Europe that lasted from July 28th, 1914 until November 11th, 1918. The war drew in most of the nations of Europe along with Russia, the United States, the Middle East, and, consequently, other regions. The war pitted the central powers, mainly Germany, Austria, Hungary, and Turkey. Against the allies were mainly France, Great Britain, Russia, Italy, Japan, from 1917, the United States. One of the first causes of World War 1 would have to be the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand, who died along with his wife by a Serbian nationalist in Sarajevo, Bosnia.
