The book of Genesis talks about the creation of the earth and humankind. It was written by many different authors, we know this because there are four different writing styles in the book, so this most likely means that there are four different authors, one of the authors was Moses. The date the book was written is approximately between 1440 and 1400 B.C., between the times Moses led the Israelites out of Egypt.

The word genesis means origins or beginnings. Genesis sets the scene for the rest of the Bible, telling us God's plan for his creation. Genesis shows the power of God as Creator, the value of forgiveness ,human life and the harsh consequences of sin and the story of salvation and forgiveness through the coming of Jesus. This story is about after god created the world he created the first man to live in the Garden of Eden, to keep Adam company god made a woman from Adams Ribs. In the center of the Garden of Eden there was a fruit tree, god told Adam and eve to never eat the fruit from that tree but the snake living in the tree told them to. Adam and Eve eat the fruit and by doing this they sin and get banished from the garden. I like this story in particular because it tells the story of how man was created and how Original sin was created.

In conclusion Genesis is the book of beginnings. It gives us the beginning of the world, of man, of sin, and of salvation. Its fifty chapters were written by several authors including mosses and cover the first 2,100 years of human history. Though it may not seem that way, the entire story of Genesis is put together very well by God’s promise to forgive man from his sins, a promise kept when he sent Jesus Christ to die for our sins.
