John: The book of John is one of the four Gospels in the New Testament of the Bible. Gospels are the teaching of Jesus and the apostles: the Christian Revelation. (Dictionary.com LLC, 2015) While all four gospels are evangelistic, John’s Gospel is recognized as the “Gospel of belief” because of its emphasis on knowing (56 times) and believing (98 times) the truth (46 times). (Towns, 2013, p. 392) Furthermore, the book of John provides readers with the most important detail, the key to entering heaven, the death and resurrection of Christ. This re-emphasizes the need for belief. John 3:16 is the passage all Christians use when they start their walk of Faith. If we do not know and believe that God gave his only begotten to die on a cross for our sins, we will never be able to enter the kingdom of heaven.
