All About The American Revolution The French and Indian War Begins In 1754 the French and Indian War began. This war took place when two different groups of people wanted to claim the Ohio River Valley. Now you may be thinking that these two groups of people were the French and the Indians, but actually the fight was between the French and the British. Academic scholars have covered elements of Indian warfare and the Indian culture from the Beaver Wars of the seventeenth century to the end of what may be considered the Sixty Years’ War, which consisted of various conflicts between the Eastern Woodland Indians and Europeans. Little has been done to cover the related conflict in Western Pennsylvania other than the battles during the French and Indian War. What I have not found is any study of the relationship between culture and warfare against the Europeans. The research I have been doing is directly influencing how I will approach my topic and possibly change my thesis. Historians may have focused more on Pontiac’s influence in the Great Lakes region of the conflict as well as the bulk

Canadians and their Native American allies attacked the British and Americans in Pennsylvania and New York. Many of the British armies retaliated against the Native Americans by attacking their villages.
They are the men who, greedy for land and riches, managed to provoke the French into attacking us, despite all peaceful intentions and actions taken by our parliament. The blood of all those men, our brothers, husbands, and children, who died in that war is on their hands, more so than on the French themselves! The French may have fired the first shots, but it was their governor who first sold the land, out of greed and contempt for the laws set forth by our King. It is their people who must pay for the lives of those men, and if not in blood, than in the blood money they have stolen from us
