The Future Of Mars Exploration And Its Impact On American Society

1098 Words5 Pages

Will people ever live on Mars? Since the 1970s scientists have been sending rovers and other spacecraft to Mars trying to discover what the future of the red planet holds for human life. If scientists continue working toward their goal it could change everything. The amazing technological advances made in Mars Exploration have changed science as a whole. Along with that Americans all across the United States lives could be changed forever. Mars exploration and the possibility of humans being sent to Mars using advanced technology could change life forever. Scientists plan the future of Mars Exploration, they continue to study the planet and question whether or not Mars could ever hold life. Scientists have been working towards sending humans …show more content…

Scientists need the future generation of rovers to travel a larger distance. Rovers on mars convert sun rays into power in order to function. This poses a challenge as rovers only cover a couple miles over a few years (“Deep”). The issue of Mars exploration has impacted American society. Mars terrain can be very dangerous, many rovers struggle to travel its surface, so this brings to question how humans will traverse mars if they ever do. NASA found something that shows a possibility that water was once on Mars. Spacecraft sent to Mars show there was potentially water in the Valles Marineris. This valley is extremely large and is about 2800 miles in length (Aldrin and Dyson 36). The issue of Mars exploration has impacted American society because the possibility of life on Mars could change life for many Americans in the future. A test shows that there may have once been life on Mars. “One experiment tried to see if there were any organisms that produced gas. A radioactive broth was added to a sample of soil in a closed chamber. Any organisms present would presumably “drink” the broth and release gas containing radioactive carbon. When the broth was added to the soil, a detector did measure radioactive gas. Was there life on Mars, or had the broth caused a chemical reaction” (Aldrin and Dyson 38). The issue of Mars exploration has impacted American society. The discovery this experiment revealed shows that there may have once been life on Mars, and may be able to sustain life now. Scientists continue to run experiments and reveal the future of Mars
