Garden Of Eden.

After attending Hutchinson Community College, Debra worked in the cooperate world in southern California. She came back to Kansas to visit her family, while visiting she met a guy who had joined her brothers band.

Debra ended up marrying the guy, David. They moved back to hometown Little River. After their marriage they ended up have four daughters, Ciara, Justine, Roxanne, and Amara Nelson. In 2005, they bought the store and called it The Garden Of Eden. "This was a big leap of faith, to take on this store," Debra said. "I´m a strong Christian, and I believe that God gave us everything we needed in the Garden of Eden." So they renamed and changed the image of the store, and took off for the Promised Land.”

They established the store in 2007, and only ever have 1 to 5 employees.

Debra said “ People can come sit outside, kids can come get a Popsicle after school, I love to see the customers with smiles on their faces.”

They also made changes to make the shopping experience more relaxing and enjoyable. The Nelson’s installed a speaker system and a CD player for musical enjoyment. They installed a green-and-white awning on the front, as downtown stores used to have in the community. So instead of having to sit inside, they can relax outside in the shade enjoy beverages and snacks with a nice shade.

In the store they like to show some of high school art pieces, or items made by local residents, as in socks They recently added Hunt brother’s pizza, which a person can call in an order, or do a walk in with an order. Takes about 25 minutes to make, it’s a nice quick pick up for the family when go out or staying in. They provide everyone with a bulletin board to keep the community posted on events that either are happening or going to happen in the near future, as in community events, or events happening for people in the
