The play Hamlet is full of ideas that demonstrate Hamlet’s sanity and the idea that he was only pretending to be mad. For instance, the introduction of the ghost. Hamlet begins with the introduction of the ghost by way of Barnardo, Marcellus, and Horatio. These three men witness the appearance of the ghost and relate its features to those of the late king. They believe that the ghost has “the same figure like the King that’s dead” (1.1.43). The men are spooked of the revelation and decide that they must tell Hamlet of the ghost’s presence.
