Often, people judge a person by how they look or what they wear on a day to day basis. In the book The Girl Who Drank The Moon, Xan and Luna fight through all the difficult times together. The author builds the theme by characterization and events. Every year the protectorat leave a baby as an offering to the witch who lives in the forest. They hope this sacrifice will keep the witch from terrorizing their town. But the witch in the forest xan, is kind. She shares her home with a swamp monster and perfectly little dragon.
