A Child Called "It" is a creative non-fiction memoir of the American author David James "Dave" Pelzer. The story takes place in Daly City, San Francisco, California between the late 1960s and early 1970s. Pelzer wrote several autobiographical and self-help books and is best known for his 1995 memoir of childhood abuse titled A Child Called "It". His book is written in the author's viewpoint and it is about the severe abuse that he suffered as a child. The book shows the readers the many emotional and physical methods that his mother had abused him when he was at the age of 4 to the age of 12, which was when he was sent into foster care.

Memories and Grieving Impacting Ethical and Moral Decisions In J.K Rowling’s novel Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows and Mark Zusak’s novel The Book Thief, memories act as an important basis for the actions and choices of characters. In the book,everyone has the same attribute’s but one twelve year old boy named Jonas. Throughout the novel,Jonas has suffer and has been misunderstood. Thousands of people discipline their children everyday, but some of them don’t know that they are actually abusing their child. Even though some parents may abuse their children by beating them and hitting them, disciplining a child is not the same. Disciplining a child allows them to grow and learn what is wrong and right. It also allows a kid not to be out of control and harm others. The meaning of discipline is the practice of training people to obey rules or a code of behavior, by using a punishment to correct their disobedience.
The society in this book is basically the epitome of a dystopia. It has a totalitarian government and everything about the world the people live in is a frightening nightmare. The government has completely dehumanized the way people live their lives. People in this dystopia aren’t even actually human any more. They aren’t even born the natural way through reproduction, they are created.
Imagine a community with no color, no feelings, no choices, no love. In that community there is one boy with all of those things. Jonas sees the world, emotionless, blank. He wants to change it. The community chose Jonas to be the Receiver.
I have read the novel, “The Giver”, written by the famous American writer Lois Lowry. This book was written under author’s impression after visiting her aging father in the hospital, who had lost his long term memory. The idea of the book is the importance of memory. The novel is set in a society which seems like utopian, in this society there is no hunger, sadness, or misery. However this utopian society is held from experiencing true emotions.
