Lois Lowry gets most of the ideas for the giver from her life. When her sister died she wondered if it would be better if people couldn’t love at all because then we would not feel pain after the love ends. This is how Lowry got the idea that the people in the community cannot love. When Lowry saw the news report about the mass murder she didn’t really care because it wasn’t anywhere near her. In the giver when people are released the person that releases them doesn’t feel any remorse for what they have done.
Sometimes people change, and sometimes it’s a little change and other times it’s a big change. In the book, The Giver by Lois Lowry, Jones was just a regular eleven in his community, and he would never break the rules until he had become the receiver. On page 111 it states in the text, “He was not yet qualified to be a Giver himself; nor had gabriel been selected to be a receiver. That he had this power frightened him. He decided to not tell.”
The outstanding novel “The Giver” written brilliantly by Lois Lowery is a book about a young boy who lives in a dystopian society. The boy, Jonas, is selected to be the next Receiver of Memory for his job assignment. The giver, the old Receiver of Memory, has to train Jonas for his assignment, by giving him memories. Along with these memories come emotions Jonas never even knew were a thing. Some of the emotions were anguish, love, and happiness.
When I was eight-year-olds, I was always told to read a book by my teachers and peers and I absolutely loathed it. One day I was handed an assignment, we were set off to check out a book from the library to read during reading time, which during this time I dreaded. After what seemed like hours, I decided on a Junie B. Jones book that caught my eye. After a brief reading session of one hour, when I finished the small chapter book, at once I decided to check out another one of the books in the series which lead to another one and so on. On average I devote about twenty hours of my time a week reading books.
Just think. Nobody has any knowledge of the past. You do not know what color is, you have no emotion, and everybody is the same. The world that you live in is colorless, emotionless, drab, even lifeless. This is the type of world that Jonas and The Giver live in.
In the book The Giver written by Lois Lowery is a book with no emotions and no color. " But suddenly Jonas had noticed following the path of the apple through the air with his eyes, that the piece of fruit had- well, this was the part that he couldn't adequately understand- the apple had just changed." (Pg 24 digital copy) The Giver is a book about a kid named Jonas.
Like many have done today, “Those who do not learn history are doomed to repeat it.” - George Santayana. As most people may well know, today’s current population live in an age of technological advancement. Never before has there been so much information at the touch of our fingertips. Some of the information we can access is history. What happened a hundred years ago or why did the french revolution ever begin?
Although there exist many conflicts in many novels, The Giver by Lois Lowry is a perfect example of person vs person. Jonas, (the main character) lives in a utopian society where everything is perfect. Throughout the book you start to notice how Jonas is affected by the memories he starts to receive and realizes that people in the society don't feel the same as Jonas. One important piece of evidence that supports my claim of person vs person reads “The Giver looked away as if he could not bear what he had done to Jonas. “Forgive me,”.he said” (Lowery 120).

The giver by Lois Lowry- Analytical essay ________________________________________________________ What if we lived in a world of peace and equality? What if we lived in a world with no differences? A world with no social classes and inequality. That sounds pretty amazing doesn’t it?
Jonas felt anger for his father and the pain he feels for the baby twin. On page 168 in the giver,Jonas realized that they been playing a game of war ( Lowry). Jonas feel sad and misunderstood for the boy in war. Jonas sadly understood that no one know what he is feeling. These are like real life because some careless people don 't think about others and think that everything is just a joke.
In The Giver, written by Lois Lowry, a little boy finds out that his community gives him choices that will affect his life. In The Giver Jonas goes through a lot by learning about the true meaning of release, learning what love means, and even becoming Receiver of Memory. Jonas’ experiences develop a theme over The Giver by teaching the reader that everyone has to make a choice sometime in their life no matter how hard it may be on either you or someone else. Although some readers may believe that some people do not need to make choices, Jonas’ experiences show that he needs a choice in life no matter how hard or easy the difficulty of that choice is. No matter how hard a choice is you or someone else has to make a choice no matter what the choices are.
Language can be used to inspire individuals to impact society. Using stories, authors inspire people by educating them about the past and the present, therefore alerting readers how events during these time periods can lead to dilemmas in the future. Occasionally, writers simply warn their readers about the future and how horrible situations can be avoided. Otherwise, when authors and speakers are inspiring others, they are often doing it subliminally. Without you even knowing it, a certain bit of literature can really change the way you think about life.
"Jonas felt a ripping sensation inside himself, the feeling of terrible pain clawing its way forward to emerge in a cry.” The dictionary entry of the word “dystopia” states, “an imagined place or state in which everything is unpleasant or bad, typically a totalitarian or environmentally degraded one.” This basically means that it’s an imaginary place that is nothing but a horrifying and an unbearable place to be in, which typically has a government that doesn’t allow any sort of freedom. In The Giver, Jonas’s community was perfect. No one had to deal with pain or fear.
“Your scientists were so preoccupied with whether or not they could, they didn’t stop to think if they should.” (Ian, Jurassic park). A famous movie quote that holds the weight of every scientific breakthrough, including the process of genetically engineering babies. When trying for children, all want healthy, normal, children; but, what is normal? Normal is fluid.
