Every person in the world goes through many ups and downs throughout there life. How they deal with these issues is what sets themselves apart from others. In The Glass Castle Jeanette who is the main character had a very difficult upbringing but she was able to overcome those problems. Similar to Jeanette a woman by the name of Inocente Izucar had a journey that was difficult at first but she found a way to overcome it. Both of these woman never settled down as children and there was a major lack of parenting. These difficult times for these women have turned them into who they are today. They would just randomly pack up the few things they had a moved to a new state hoping it would be better. The problem was that they would move to these new places expecting change but the problem was themselves not where they lived. Jeanette’s mom was always very lazy and her dad was a major alcoholic. For Jeanette growing up it was hard for her not to fall into the same habits and them because that’s what she was around all the time. Inocente from a broad perspective had a similar childhood as Jeanette but if you go deeper into there lives there are many differences. Overall from a broad perspective both of them grew up poor and have very little parental guidance and eventually they both became successful. But more in-depth, Inocente was born in Mexico where he parents felt as though they had no hope there so they illegally immigrated to the United States. At the time Inocente was just six years old experiencing things a child should never have to go through. Not long after they were in the United States Inocente father was deported back to Mexico. This was the start of her family falling apart. At the time her mother was left to care for her and her three other brothers which was not possible to do alone. They became homeless and this is when Inocente found her passion for art. This shows that how a tragic event like becoming homeless and she was at a point in her life …show more content…

Jeanette and Inocente knew that they had to do this for themselves and for no one else. Jeanette moved to New York City and was very lucky to get a job as a reporter. This has been a job she has dreamed most of her life. While Inocente was in her first art show at the young age of 15 years old. This show was the start of her famous career because people saw and recognized her art which allowed her to sell it to make money. As you can see these two women were fearless and had nothing to lose, this mentality allowed them to push further then the average person and that is why they are now successful. For the first time in both of these woman’s lives they were able to eat the food they wanted to eat, live in a house with perfect living conditions and not have to sweat small things like they used to in the past. As these women progress through life when something hard or challenging comes up they can resort back to when they were and child and if they could make it through that then they could make it through
